Review of Driving Miss Daisy (2015) by Reece L — 19 Apr 2013
Yes, it features a black man as a white woman's employee and yes, he does speak in the stereotypical "black" fashion and yes, the overall message isn't as profound as its Oscar recognition would suggest, but this is an undeniably sweet and well-made movie that, while old fashioned, promotes themes of racial harmony in all forms.
To denounce it because it portrays a more common relationship with a white person in charge of a black person would be ridiculous. Tandy and Freeman are exceptional.
