Review of Driving Lessons (2006) by Andrew C — 06 Feb 2008
A weaker version of Harold and Maude. Rupert Grint shows just enough acting ability that I'm not completely afraid Harry Potter will be his only contribution to acting but time will tell.
Rupert plays a 17yo kid who has grown up under a very religious and conservative mother (Laura Linney)> When he is encouraged to get a summer job he meets Evie (Julie Walters) who opens up his world to a whole host of new experiences. It can be quite funny at times and it's a nice little coming of age story but doesn't offer anything original or fresh to raise it above the mediocre in the end.
