Review of Driving Lessons (2006) by Avant G — 08 Jun 2012
Nothing special. The humour didn't worked for me, although I found Julie Walters' characther funny sometimes. The movie is boring. Most of the time, Rupert Grint (Ben) seems expressionless, even for someone portraying a shy young man.
He conveys almost nothing. He is overshadowed by everyone else, most of the time. I was hoping he had something else to offer the public, his performance did not add anything to the movie. We see chemistry between him and Walters, but then again, Walters worked for a decade as his mother in Harry Potter, so that's not surprising.
Walters' performance and character saved the movie from total embarrassment, but that's not enough.
