Review of Driven (2001) by Gary K — 28 Feb 2010
In hindsight, this movie is almost a template for "Rocky Balboa," a better film that would follow a few years later. Renny Harlin's hyperactive direction distracts from the story, creating a series of set pieces that stretch the plot to the edge of stupidity.
Still, the race sequences and presence of Stallone and Reynolds make up for Pardue's unbelievable portrayal of a conflicted Grand Prix star. We never really learn why Gina Gershon's character is so snotty and Estella Warren is pretty much a prop that's moved from scene to scene.
