Review of Drive (2011) by Raven D — 05 Jan 2015
(Edited Review):
Wow.Appreciate after more viewings. The symbolism, the themes of violence and the inevitable, the fatalism (the scorpion and the frog...).A movie about a character who tries to stray from his place in the world, and pays the price. You are the driver, you are not a husband,a father, this is your place in the world, your role.Just drive.Added half a star more. The story is basic but it suits to explore the themes exposed, violence vs civility/family life,inevitablitiy/fatalism.All through a very particular character.Only mantain my complaint about the last scene of the driver in the car being too long,Al Brooks being a meh villain (though I like him a bit more),and the fork death in the pizzeria being too unnecesarily gory.
Flawless visually and music-wise,the 80´s style fits perfect.Tight movie.
