Review of Drive (2011) by Yash B — 10 Dec 2013
"Drive" is definitely a unique and original film. However, it is absolutely not meant for a mainstream audience. It is made for people who truly appreciate film and direction. I liked the film because of how thought provoking it was and how it built tension.
I wasn't blown away like some but thats not to say there is lots to praise here. The opening scene is just pure brilliance on its own. The main problem is that the movie slows down after such an adrenaline pumping opening.
I understand that the first half is crucial to character development, but I can safely say that the second half makes up for it completely. Gosling is able to own his character with just a few lines and an intimating look in his eye.
Now thats acting. His performance and the originality ultimately make this film worth any film lovers' time.
