Absolutely beautiful to look at. This goes along with Ran and Kagemusha as Kurosawa's visual masterpieces.
Sadly, some of the vignettes here do fall flat and make the film feel rather slow. The good ones really make up for them though, and are amongst some of the best work Kurosawa did.
