Hardly ever gets mentioned as a great genre movie from the 1980s and unfairly - one of the few that didn't succumb to the usual 80s cliches. Gorgeously filmed and well acted, the plot is admittedly a bit derivative of others, but most of the fantasy genre is anyhow.
At least it's delivered with earnestly and seriously, and it will help you recall a time when every movie didn't look like a digital cartoon. Remember when things and places looked real in movies?
