Review of Dracula (1958) by Jose M — 05 Jan 2014
Horror of Dracula from Hammer films would engrave Christopher Lee as the immortal count while solidifying Hammer films reputation for horror. The trick to it, I believe, was taking on  the classic 1931 film and adding vivid color.
One must not forget the production values the film has, setting the mood, the direction from Terence Fisher, and the film's lead Peter Cushing as Van Helsing. Â The opening shot has state into statue while music music sets the tone.
We are then taken to Dracula's coffin where vivid blood drips. That's one of the I quickly took note of, not to say black and white would not have worked. Horror of Dracula would spawn sequels and influence filmmakers and audiences, but Not before facing the Horror of Dracula.
Warning, film may be cheesy.
