Review of Dr. No (1962) by Seth S — 28 Jan 2015
Back to the start. Dr. No is the Bond movie that proceeded all other Bond movies. It seemed like essential viewing, but in and of itself, the movie isn't fantastic. Sean Connery owns the 007 role. He's definitely the best thing about the movie. The action/story/visual aesthetic are all very much of the 1960's. In that the movie looks and feels a lot like a lengthened episode of Mission Impossible. If I expected the rest of this series to be like this movie, I would probably stop now. But I know the franchise grows and matures, and I'm interested to see how it develops. I'll keep watching.
"That's a Smith & Wesson, and you've had your six." 6/10.
