Review of Downsizing (2017) by Josh E — 03 Jan 2018
This is the worst movie I have ever seen in my life. The stupid doomsday scenario with methane destroying the planet is absurd experiments demonstrated in May 2017 that large scale release of methane hydrate from the ocean resulted in 1000x the same amount of CO2 drawdown. Once you understand that although Methane is 40x more potent as a greenhouse gas than CO2 but only stays in the atmosphere for days compared with years the result of drawing down 1000s of times the amount of CO2 can be seen even by the stupidest and most ignorant of directors and actors as a significant counter to the doom of warming caused by CO2.
I.e. in our current global warming context, the result described in the movie is more likely to be a boon and the saviour of humanity if it actually happened.
So stupid claims combined with a weak plot overall, a cast and even weaker acting.
One thing is clearly evident. Matt Damon is a skilled actor he has an uncanny ability to be able to play a stupid, brainless, useless dolt really really well.
If it wasn't for the ridiculous (but funny) lines of Hong Chau the movie would be causing mass suicides due to people ending their lives in cinemas word wide to escape the pain of watching it.
If I could have given a star representing zero I would have.
This director should never be allowed to make another movie in his life !!!!!
