Review of Downfall (2004) by Idham F — 14 Jul 2010
This movie is best remembered for the scene whereby Hitler's outburst to his generals has been spoofed in the internet depicting various current situation from Man United losing the Champions League to killing Paul the Octopus.
But viral internet aside, this is a very good movie about the last 10 days of Adolf Hitler. The movie revolves around his secretary who was in the Berlin bunker together with Eva Brown, Himmler and the rest of Hitler's entourage.
She observed the last few days of the Third Reich the futile situation where Hitler delusionally believes that he will win the war eventhough the Russian army has surrounded Berlin and his men are outnumbered 1000 to 1.
A situation where the loyalty of his men are tested and also which eventually reveals the human side of Adolf Hitler. A great movie for World War 2 buff like myself.
