Review of Down in the Valley (2005) by Moe E — 31 Aug 2007
Down in the Valley is writer/director, David Jacobson's modernization of the Classic Western genre. Present-day California's San Fernando Valley is the setting for the story of a rebellious teenaged girl (Evan Rachel Wood), her introverted, younger brother (Rory Culkin) and their combined infatuation/hero-worship of the drifter/rancher (Edward Norton), who's deemed it necessary to "rescue" them from their overbearing father (David Morse).
Overall, not a horrible film, there were some interesting aspects to it. But, may have been better served in the hands of a more experienced director.
