Review of Down by Law (1986) by Michael L — 04 Feb 2008
This is a film with classic cinema perfection. The cinematography is outstanding, the chemistry between Tom Waits, John Lurie, and Roberto Benigni is exceptional, the storyline is one people can relate to, the silences in the film are well placed, there are meaningful parts of the flick with no dialogue, there is old-school-Mr. Hulot-humor, and a fantastic soundtrack.
Zach:"Why you are this place put?".
Bob:"I kill somebody.".
Zach:-silence-.
Jack:-silence-.
Zach:"Did they like Walt Witman?".
