Review of Doubt (2003) by Rudy L — 24 Jun 2011
Doubt is a good film. The acting is great on all accounts. Streep gives another top notch performance. Hoffman and Adams give great supporting acts testing the patience and will of Streep. And with her small but important part, Viola Davis steps out and takes command when she is on screen.
I love the story and how it's resolved (or is it?). It's as if this movie is a court case, and we are the jury. Shanley gives us the details that are known, leaving it up to us to give a verdict of guilt or innocence.
In the end, after you think you've made up your mind, you get a slight twist and then you begin to doubt yourself.
