Review of Doubt (2003) by Rostek P — 25 Aug 2012
Writers usually direct to protect their own work. Here's the opposite scenario - a writer ruining it. He's got some of the greatest actors today and what he delivers is a film that has mood but the visual concept is the weak link.
All these camera movements and shots were way over the top and a bit campy. Anyway, the real problem was that each performance worked in a given scene but there was little connection between the scenes in terms of a continued performance.
In the end the characters remained a bit static, too much like sketches and not real people. We got dramatic tools instead of human beings.
