Review of Doubt (2003) by Skye B — 26 Sep 2012
If you don't understand the rules of a stage-script, then leave now. This is more theater than film and proudly packages and sells itself so. It is breathtaking, suspenseful, beautifully written and directed and well made.
It's a stage production, on film. Not just on film, but as a film - without losing it's core theater-values. And if you don't like it, at least admit that Streep and Hoffman are both exceptional in this! They border on the edge of campness constantly, without once tipping it over into the fire, keeping it just the right amount of dramatic to be a success.
A glorious success. An all time favourite for me.
