Review of The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (2012) by Skye B — 26 Sep 2012
An exceptionally light, yet captivating and convincing feel-good film in the tradition of Calender Girls and the like - just even better. Nothing new, nothing revolutionary and absolutely no hype, but expect to be entranced by the beauty of old age (yes, in this case it becomes an adventure and not a sentence) as well as the everlasting hope that one will 'find' oneself at some point, at any age.
Also, a very well written script and plot, supplying a few unexpected surprises, proving the film may not be anything new - but is by far fresher than anything else I've seen recently! Wonderful fun, mature fun.
Good fun. And brilliant, brilliant performances by a cast I wish I could host for dinner.
