Review of Four Rooms (1995) by Skye B — 22 Sep 2012
I don't usually review older movies like this, but I just have too.I don't see how this can only have a 14 on the tomatometer this was actually a brilliantly made film. The movie's concept is interesting and it works and 4 different directors/writers made this film to tell a story of the bellhop named Ted (played by and excellent Tim Roth) on New Years eve as he has to deal with the people staying in these 4 different rooms.
His night goes from a room with a female covenant, to a tense situation of being at the wrong place at the wrong time, to babysitting kids, to a brilliant final act with a Hollywood star. Other pros are that almost all the supporting cast was good, it was really funny, it had great moments of tension and terrific writing.
My problems with it are that: The first room was actually pretty weak and short compared to the other ones, and I don't really see how he has a bad time with that scene it felt like it was just there.
In the second scene it was kinda hard to understand what was going on at times, so it made it hard to follow, and finally some of the characters/actors weren't very good and served almost no purpose.
Overall though this was a great comedy and I would recommend it for a good time.
