For the life of me, I don't understand why this movie is getting such rave reviews. The plot is a mess that is filled with non-sequiturs and coincidences. The tone of the movie is uneven; sometimes it feels like it was inspired by comedic films like Friday.
..other times more like 90s hood dramas such as Boyz N the Hood or even, at times, Pulp Fiction. Regardless, it is never as good as those films and never seems to find it's own groove. I see potential in this movie, that's why it pisses me off that it is as messy as it is.
Quite frankly, the only really good thing is the 90s hip-hop soundtrack.
