Review of Dope (2015) by Raven C — 26 Apr 2017
"Dope" is a powerful movie, I loved how the movie sends a message to people who believe in the average stereotype. It starts off with three genius teenagers Diggy, Jib, and Malcolm. These best friends get into some trouble with a drug dealer and are taken on a dangerous journey to get back to the normal life they were living.
The movie synthesizes what it is like to be a minority teen that is constantly told that they can never be or do anything in life. The message is that just because you see all of these bad things doesn't mean that we the minority in society have to be just that.
We are no different from any privileged, caucasian, rich person. We are powerful and intelligent human beings the same as anyone else. As I stated, this movie is powerful and I believe everyone should really watch it and get the message.
