Review of Dope (2015) by Kevin C — 24 Jan 2016
Fresh, inventive, funny, surreal at times. Successfully shifts in and out of the style of black comedy. Keen observations of adolescent and ghetto live mixed with nonstop action. A Sundance favorite, no surprise; too intelligent and keenly observed to be a blockbuster.
The sad subtext is the extreme difficulty of surviving adolescence and escaping the ghetto.
