Review of Doomsday (2008) by Adrian F — 04 Jul 2009
THis film would have been so much better if the director had decided what approach he wanted to take, and stuck with it. Sometimes it takes itself seriously and can almost pass as a standard post-apocalyptic drama.
Then all of a sudden you're in a medieval castle with people who look like they raided the gift shop for their clothing and a gladiator style fight between a big bloke in heavy armour wielding a mace and the main character who, with no weapons or armour of any kind, magically turns into a super-soldier and whoops his ass.
There is a pointless plotline about a corrupt politician, random, unnecessary family connections between characters, more plot holes than you can shake a stick at and a really unconvincing ending. Come to think about it, the whole thing is unconvincing.
Go watch 28 days later instead.
