A strange film. It looks absolutely gorgeous and has some powerful scenes. It could easily have been a great film, but somehow went astray. Don't Come Knocking offers us archetypes rather than real characters - the frustrating thing is, given that pretty much everyone involved is extraordinarily talented, while watching it I had a strong sense that these actually WERE real characters. They were just being constrained from revealing themselves by the format and structure of the movie.
Tantalizing but ultimately unsatisfying - sometimes we are left to wonder what might have been...
