Review of Don't Breathe (2016) by Dann M — 09 May 2017
Stephen Lang stars in the intense and frightening horror film Don't Breathe. When three thieves break into the home of a blind retired veteran they get more than they bargained for and end up in a fight for their lives.
Lang is terrifying in how cold and methodical he is, and Jane Levy is pretty good as a "final girl." Additionally, director Fede Alvarez brings a lot of tension and suspense to film; making an excellent use of space, giving the house a confining, maze-like feel.
However, there's a morality problem as the girl is greedy, manipulative, and unremorseful, which makes it kind of hard to root for her. Yet despite its problems, Don't Breathe is an incredibly dark and disturbing film that delivers a lot of chills.
