Review of Donnie Darko (2001) by Ethan G — 03 Dec 2015
Sometimes filmmakers get it right in the first try. Donnie Darko is quite a captivating film in both the angsty teen story and the supernatural occultist type-flicks stoners love to boast about. I figured it was all hype and paranoia stemming from years of abuse to the body and mind when I was told about how great this movie was by some crackhead my friend was hanging around with a couple years ago but no Donnie Darko proved to be one of the most coherent, self conscious and complete films I ever watched.
It had me hooked for every minute I watched it and certainly pulled me out of a slump of movie-watching that simply disappointed and/or felt like recycled nonsense.
