Review of Donnie Darko (2001) by Valentina F — 27 Aug 2013
This film is great at establishing and sustaining a particular mood and atmosphere. I don't care much for how disparate the plot is. I might be missing something, I might have to watch it again sometime, and maybe then things might be clearer.
It's only a small issue I have with it, though. It really is a great watch, and it's very well written despite certain confusing elements. The style and atmosphere alone are fantastic, so it only helps that a strong cast is also there to deliver convincing performances.
It's always a pleasure to see Mary McDonell in anything, she's flawless.
