Review of Dog Soldiers (2002) by Justin S — 07 Oct 2008
This entire movie can be summed up in one scene. theres guns blazing, guts hanging out, big exsplosions, warewolfs and genral violence. and when its all over one of the soldiers says "its been a rough night, boil the kettle and lets have a brew".
brilliant! a americized high octain action/horror with a quintessentially brittish delivery. dog soldiers is a hugely entertaing throw back "spam in a can movie". it has homarges too "aliens" and "predato"r, and takes an entire shot from "the thing".
some of the creature effects look bad. but this can be forgiven due too its budget. its script rises and falls somtimes with funny, quick and real dioulouge. to some mind numbingly bad stuff. most of the cast is good.
particualy sean pertwee, who is brilliant and such an underated actor. emma cleasby is dreadfull though. regardless of its faults dog soldiers prevails as a good brittish horror movie. its fast paced and fun.
with this and the deacent undeneath his belt, neil marshall is becoming a force to be reconed with.
