Review of Doctor Zhivago (1965) by Ryan Z — 08 Apr 2008
7.8.
Long and beautiful but somehow not satisfying. Zhivago is a complex character, not easily understood. Cinematography is superb as would be expected from Lean. The role of Zhivago was originally offered to Peter O'toole immediately following Lawrence which took a year to film . O'toole turned it down. Now it seems hardly imaginaable that it could not have been Shariff.
