Didn't live up to my expectations. I downgrade Lean now - but I fancy reading the book. It's just aged poorly, perhaps. I expect a lot more cinematic content for those "big open spaces" - - it was not enough. I didn't get the main pair of lovers... Zhivago seems like a wet blanket.
Poor editing too. And even the musical theme seemed over-used. No, I would not recommend this at all.
The broad sweep of history is, of course, tragic.
