Review of Doctor Zhivago (1965) by Mary R — 27 Apr 2018
My Favorite Movie of All Time! I saw this movie as a little girl and I will never forget the hauntingly beautiful balalaika music, the crisp, cold, frozen snow landscapes, the ferocious and terrible war, and most of all, the wonderfully sorrowful romantic love affair between Dr.
Zhivago and Lara. This movie offers a visual into the mind of the famous Russian writer Boris Pasternak, and makes a frightening historical period (the Russian Revolution) accessible to the general public.
All of the actors are splendid, especially Omar Sharif and Julie Christie, and it is hard to imagine that anyone else could ever play the characters in this story. The settings are magnificent! As we travel in time to join the characters and interact with their lives, struggles, joys and losses, we are filled with a myriad of emotions that reflect the complexity of life to be lived.
A timeless masterpiece!
