Review of Doctor Zhivago (1965) by Audrey O — 19 Oct 2009
It no surprising news that David Lean can make an epic film. After having 'Bridge on the River Kwai' and 'Lawrence of Arabia' on his filmography, it's no great difficulty to see the beauty in 'Doctor Zhivago'.
Though having said that, I believe those films to be superior to the film currently being reviewed. The scale of 'Doctor Zhivago' is grand, with some beautiful sets, but I was taken most with the acting.
Though having said THAT, there was a tremendous lack of Alec Guinness and Klaus Kinksi whose roles were most interesting but not focused on. I'm not usually a romantic, which is why I may not like it as much as 'Bridge on the Kwai', but it this is still a great film.
