Review of Doctor Sleep (2019) by Deanomite — 22 Jan 2020
I watched the 3 hour director cut, 30 min longer. Flanagan has been on a run lately, Oculus was solid horror, Hill House was very popular (I found it boring) and this is a well photographed, nice looking movie.
Alex Essoe does a good impression of Shelly Duvall. Ewan McGregor does a good job of never steering attention away from story or toward himself. Snakebite is the most interesting character, besides Abra (Kyliegh Curran) she was great.
There are parts that remind me of The Dark Crystal, in a good way. Well made, not much action but it never drags at all in 3 hours.
