Review of Dixie Chicks: Shut Up and Sing (2006) by Ted D — 18 Aug 2007
I am by no means a country fan, but I have a huge amount of respect for them after seeing this. From a musician's standpoint, they are great, no question, but what won me over was how they stuck to what was said and never wavered.
What pisses me off, though, is how backwards and hypocritical America can be. These Patriots screaming for the Chick's heads, completely forgetting about Freedom of Speech, a first amendment, something their country they love and defend so dearly, is built on.
I'll bet a majority of those are against Mr. Bush right now. Roosevelt says it best: "To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.
" Anyways, good movie.
