Review of Dixie Chicks: Shut Up and Sing (2006) by Jayna R — 12 Feb 2008
You do not have to be a country music fan to enjoy this movie, at least not in my opinion. I only like some country music, including some of the Dixie Chicks' songs, but I think this movie is great.
It shows that the right to free speech is evidently under attack -maybe that will change after the next election - who knows? All I know is that I thoroughly agreed with Natalie Maines when she made her comment about Bush back in 2003, and it's nice to see that we're no longer in the minority in our opinion that the Iraq war is a mistake.
It was nice to see that the Chicks could still come back with a successful album after all the turmoil Natalie's comment solved. It's silly that it caused that outrage in the first place, though.
