Review of Dixie Chicks: Shut Up and Sing (2006) by Eric N — 18 May 2011
Very strong documentary, in the pure form of "documenting" something without a heavy-handed narrator director (not that I'm not a Michael Moore fan).
If you're a Dixie Chicks fan, this must be incredible!! If you're not, (i'm more of a country hater than country fan) you will get an interesting documentary and come to appreciate them and their music. It's made me realize that all country isn't sick brainless redneck shit like Toby Keith!
Plus, it's a socio-political doc as much as a music one, if not moreso. It shows the crazy, savage time that was the beginning of the Iraq war and the childishness of the people who support war and turn their back on their idols for it.
