Review of Dixie Chicks: Shut Up and Sing (2006) by Willis M — 19 Jan 2009
I've always liked the Dixie Chicks, and I have to say that this documentary made me love them more. These are very intelligent artists whose words came back to haunt them in the form of death threats and hatred -- but they endured the fear and wrote an entire album devoted to how they felt about all aspects in their lives: motherhood, being American, being loved, and being hated.
It's an interesting peek into the making of a record and lives of female musicians. (And I love that they're friends with the Chilli Peppers. ha.).
