Review of Disco Pigs (2001) by Ollie W — 21 Nov 2011
It has it's moments and generally Cassidy and Murphy are superb in their roles as a pair of hyperbolic, grotesquely disturbed, violent youths conjoined by their dysfunction and proximity at birth and who's somewhat unsavory relationship takes them to the deepest and darkest corners of poverty-stricken 90's Ireland.
Sadly, the irritating direction and pure, unpleasant, indulgent nature of the sprawling story makes this an uneven handed attempt to combine surrealism and hyperrealism and achieve nothing in either category.
