Ethics are thrilling! Despite a few missteps (including - let's be real - that title) I'm pretty convinced that Stephen Frears can do just about anything he wants to. Most impressive here is the careful balance of tone - it's an incredibly grim movie that never crosses over into complete hopelessness.
