Review of Dinner at Eight (1933) by Carole S — 26 Aug 2007
Marie Dressler is simply fabulous; Billie Burke is twittery; Jean Harlow is scrumptious. Jack Barrymore is stunning playing (basically) Jack Barrymore - his scenes are riveting but tough to watch, knowing how close his reel life came to resemble his REAL life.
Simply a marvelous film. Harlow's shouting matches with Beery ("You big windbag!") are funnier than hell, knowing she wasn't too fond of him as a person offscreen. Love, love, love it!
