[font=Times New Roman][size=2][color=yellow][b]Many critics call this film one of the greatest films of all-time, and I completely agree with them! Without a doubt, this film is sublime on every level. It has no real plot, no real conflict or anything; it is just a couple months in the lives of these five young adults on the brink of starting their life. There was a script to this film, and it was nominated for best original screenplay by the Academy, but it is quite obvious that writer and director Barry Levinson, a great director who has made later masterpieces like [i]Sleepers[/i] and [i]Rain Man[/i], let the camera run as these young men just talked and bickered. The best part about the film is not just the dialogue that is real and fun, but the difference in all the characters. You as an audience member look at the men onscreen and see the differences, but there is one of the characters that you connect with, and the film seems to take its path, but you constantly look at the screen through that one character?s eyes. Very few films have ever been able to pull that off, and this one does it so well that it?s hard to think that this was Levinson?s first film. Speaking of first-timers, you will be astounded by the amount of name actors that are seen in here: Steve Guttenberg, Kevin Bacon, Paul Reiser, Mickey Rourke, Daniel Stern, and Tim Daly. All of these men were complete unknowns when they made this, and this was the movie that put them all on the map. If you want to see a landmark film that not only launched many careers, but also is one of the greatest films ever, then go see [i]Diner[/i], it is guaranteed delight![/b][/color][/size][/font].
