Review of Diary of the Dead (2007) by James N — 08 Mar 2009
An experiment which falls flat. Romero has nothing new to bring to the table w/ this "zombie meta-film" and, regrettably, only ends up cannibalizing his previous films. He even recreates hallow versions of old scenes, such as the signature "rednecks with guns use zombies as target practice".
There were a couple of classic Romero moments -- the bursting eyeballs in the hospital (hilarious!) and the zombies trapped in the swimming pool -- but overall I was disappointed.
