Review of Diary of the Dead (2007) by Tony A — 30 Oct 2013
George A Romero is back again. This time, in a sort of prequel/reboot to his dead movies. This takes on the found footage genre and tries to show the beginning days of the zombie outbreak. A budding filmmaker is filming a movie and starts to film what's happening across the world by viewing clips online.
This sounds great, but the characters were about as 1 dimensional as possible. Also, a nitpick, but the filming is too clean to be a handheld found footage film. They weren't interesting and they were incredibly stupid.
Tatiana Maslany has a small role as does Greg Nicotero, but those can't save this film.
