Review of Diary of the Dead (2007) by Scott T — 26 Jul 2009
OK. I will admit this is not my favorite Night of the Living Dead, well better then Day of the Dead and better then Blair Witch Project. The reason I say that is because like Blair Witch any movie shot through a camera camera could be as awful at that but George A.
Romero manages not to dump the series in that direction. Let me start off by saying what I liked about the movie. Despite not being crazy about how it was shot, like any Romero film, the zombies always deliver.
For example even though I was falling asleep through Day of the Dead, once all the zombies came on screen, I did not care what movie I was watching. Also the movie did not try and deliver cheap scares and actually ended up delivering quite a deep message.
What the movie failed to do was to show much purpose for the series. Night of the Living Dead meets Blair Witch Project? However there is a sequel coming out called Survivor of the Dead which hopefully follows this movie or one of the others in the series.
