Review of Diary of the Dead (2007) by Jason C — 26 Aug 2010
It's to bad the acting couldn't have been a little better because the fifth zombie film from master Romero is pretty smart, as expected, in terms of social commentary. I particularly like the parallels he draws between shooting film/video and shooting weapons, and how both can be dangerous and destructive acts.
There is just not enough of it to hold the movie together. There also aren't enough zombies and the CG zombie kills, even the best of them, don't hold a candle to the practical ones from the original trilogy.
Still, Romero is the best at this and I'd watch this again before any of the other dozens of zombie movies that have come out over the last decade or so.
