Review of Diary of the Dead (2007) by Sylvester K — 03 Aug 2012
As the fifth entry to the film, there were lots of interesting ideas being used in the film. The acting was horrible, narrative was dreadful but editing was quite good and made it look like a real documentary.
Plot holes were all over the place, film students never seen zombie films? Unlikely. Some of the characters have annoying personalities, e.g. Elliot, the most annoying sonofabitch that deserved to die.
Other characters were cool, notably the Amish dude, killed himself and another zombie with scythe!!! Our heroine was fierce, possibly the only character to maintain the morality in the film, everyone else can die.
The Tracy chick was surprisingly tough, was able to shoot her zombie boyfriend, bravo. I really liked the satire elements and especially the homage to the beginning of the film. A little polish would serve the film well.
