Review of Diamonds Are Forever (1971) by .:?Allieska?:. — 23 Jun 2008
After George Lazenby foolishly declined a seven film deal to extend his reign as Bond, the producers begged Connery to come back. Unfortunately, they forgot to write a script in the meantime. The plot is horrendous, the characters (including Bond) obnoxious, and the gags childish.
The real tragedy here is that since this film starred Connery, it seemed to give credence to the plot-weak, pun-heavy formula introduced here, and what followed was the Roger Moore era, which only built upon these principles.
What a shame.
