Review of Devil (2010) by Bhupinder P — 03 Nov 2012
Well, I'll admit m. night actually made a pretty decent film (keep in mind he didn't direct it he wrote the story and produced it) compared to the other shit stain films he made, Lady in The Water and The Happening.
the film takes place in one building's elevator, that mysteriously breaks down and traps five people inside with no escape and the only communication they have with the outside is the camera in the elevator controlled by the security guards.
I will say they interaction between the people in the elevator seemed a little unrealistic...such as the part were the detective asks them for there I.D's to find out there names and they can read it clearly enough.
now keep in mind they can only speak to the people in the elevator but they can't speak back because the microphone is broken or something. but the point is...ARE YOU TELLING ME THEY DIDN'T HAVE A FRICKIN PEN OR LIPSTICK TO WRITE ON THERE ARM !?!? idk that's how I feel.
the second thing was you couldn't tell who was the devil in disguise committing the murders in the elevator. however I tried not to think too hard on who it was, you know it wasn't like watching Clue or something and you had to guess who it was.
also they suspense was there, it created a good sense of paranoia and claustrophobia. also I won't give it away for the people who haven't seen it, but I will say you'd never guess who the devil is.
the other downside I would say id that the acting as so so,and I felt like they could have taken another direction towards the end of the film.. like instead of someone being the devil the could have made it some big social experiment or something.
so overall it's watchable, at least it's better then lady in the water.
