Review of Devil (2010) by Jared T — 04 Feb 2013
"Devil" is a supernatural horror/thriller film based on a story written by M. Night Shyamalan. The plot is quite simple and straight to the point; five strangers are stuck in an elevator together, when suddenly horrific things start to happen.
Shyamalan usually gets a bad wrap, and rightfully so. Aside from "The Sixth Sense," most of his films have turned out to be real clunkers. Knowing that, I wasn't expecting much from this film.
After watching it, I can say that it was an enjoyable experience, but ultimately nothing special. The movie does a good job of keeping the viewer interested in the suspense, but the climax felt very lackluster and not as shocking as it was intended to be.
There are some really creepy moments however, and specific points of the story are fairly interesting. 3 stars.
