Review of Detour (1992) by Jeff Z — 15 Sep 2009
Yes, its a classic and there are a lot of great noir elements in this, but somehow I just felt the story ran out of gas after awhile, and this is a short film to begin with. I kept getting distracted by Tom Neal, who started to look like Bob Hope's stunt double after awhile.
Ulmer's direction is a little slow, and the music, expecially at the end seemed a bit too arch.
